DNS filtering
We block the threat at the address lookup stage, before a malicious page even opens. DNS filtering is a simple layer of protection that works for the whole company at once.
- ISO/IEC 27001
- 3000+ workstations
- Since 2017
Before a browser connects to any page, it asks DNS for its address. That is the ideal moment to stop a threat: if the domain is malicious, we simply do not let it open. A cheap and effective way to cut off a large part of attacks at the source.
What DNS filtering gives you
Protection at the network level, shared across all devices, whether the employee is in the office or at home.
-
Blocking malicious domains
Lookups for known phishing and malware servers do not go through. We stop the threat before the page loads.
-
Protection for the whole network
A single setting protects all devices: computers, phones and equipment that cannot easily be secured on its own.
-
Category control for sites
You can restrict access to selected content categories if the company policy requires it. Flexibly and without rigid blocks.
-
Insight into blocked threats
You can see what was stopped and how often. Concrete proof that protection genuinely works in the background.
Why blocking at the DNS level is so effective
A huge share of attacks rely on the user reaching a malicious domain: clicking a link in a phishing message, opening a page pretending to be a bank login or downloading a file from a server controlled by the attacker. All of these start with a DNS lookup for the domain address.
By filtering DNS, we break that chain at the very start. A lookup for a known malicious domain does not return a real address, so the connection never goes through. Even if an employee clicks a dangerous link, the page will not open and the malware will not reach its server.
Protection that does not depend on the device
Antivirus or EDR has to be installed on every device and maintained. DNS filtering works on a different layer, at the network level, so with a single setting you cover all workstations, phones and equipment that is hard to secure on its own.
We also protect employees away from the office. Thanks to configuration on devices and in the company network, filtering also works for remote and travelling work, where there are usually more threats than behind the company firewall. On top of that comes control over access to categories of sites, if the company needs it.
How we launch the service
Quickly and without touching workstations, because filtering works at the level of lookups, not software on the computer.
- 1 daytypical service launch
- continuousuninterrupted protection in the background
- networkworks independently of the device
- also remotelyprotects work away from the office
- Configuration and rules. We set up filtering in the company network and on mobile devices, choosing block categories and exception lists to fit the company needs.
- Launch without disruption. The service works at the level of DNS lookups, so it needs no installation on every workstation or a break in work during startup.
- Oversight and tuning. We monitor blocks, adjust rules and unblock needed sites when a false hit appears.
Model rozliczeń
We bill DNS filtering as a fixed fee depending on the number of users or devices. The cost is low and predictable.
Included
- Configuration of filtering in the network and on devices
- Ongoing updates of threat lists
- Oversight, rule tuning and handling exceptions
- Insight into blocked threats
Beyond the plan
- Extended category policy for multiple departments
- Integration with distributed locations
- Reporting for audit purposes
DNS filtering complements employee training perfectly: it catches what gets clicked anyway.
Frequently asked questions
Will DNS filtering slow down the internet in the company?
No. Checking a domain happens in a fraction of a second, and often it even speeds up connecting to sites. Users do not notice a difference in day to day work.
Will this replace antivirus and EDR?
No, it is a separate layer. DNS filtering blocks contact with malicious domains at the network level, while antivirus and EDR protect the device itself. Together they form several lines of defence that complement each other.
Does it protect employees working remotely?
Yes. Thanks to configuration on devices, filtering also works outside the company network, for remote and travelling work, where there are usually more threats than in the office.
What if the service blocks a site I need?
We add it to the exception list. We monitor blocks and respond quickly to false hits, so protection does not get in the way of normal work.
